myHealth Blog: 9 Easy Ways To Get Healthy

Hi and welcome to this week's 50 & Beyond Health & Wellbeing blog. Each week I will provide you with knowledge, tips, advice and recommendations to inspire you to sustain good metabolic health specific to being over 50. Chris Deavin, myHealthCoach

My Nutrition Advice; "Most of us look at food as a way to get satisfaction, or to help control our weight, or as a means to overcome feeling down. But food is so much more than that. Food is a signal of how our body should act towards the environment we are in. What we eat will impact how we are physically. And the most effective way in doing that is through our gut."

My Exercise Tip; "I get asked often, 'What is the best exercise to do'. How am I meant to answer that? I really enjoy running, but I have met many people who don't. Regardless of how beneficial running is, some people just won't do it. And for good reason, they just don't enjoy it enough to keep doing it. Exercise is only truly beneficial if you can do it consistently."

My Lifestyle Suggestion; "If your plan is to stay healthy for years to come, I strongly advise you to keep your process in doing so simple. The more complicated you make things, the harder they will be to do automatically. The aim if getting healthy should be that you don't always have to think about it. It should happen with as little effort as possible, so you can enjoy life and not worry about whether you are doing the right things."

My Mindset Building Strategy;

"I have learnt through many years of coaching, that the most important trait someone needs to develop to achieve a lifetime of good health is the ability to keep trying. It's the people who stay in the game and do not give up, who end up winning the game of life. Even if you are feeling nothing is working or things are too tough, just promise yourself one thing. Don't stop trying."
