myHealth Blog: 7 Effective Workout Strategies

Hi and welcome to this week's 50 & Beyond Health & Wellbeing blog. Each week I will provide you with knowledge, tips, advice and recommendations to inspire you to sustain good metabolic health specific to being over 50. Chris Deavin, myHealthCoach

My Nutrition Advice; "You have settled on a good nutrition routine, and you are sticking to the certain foods that you know to give you good levels of energy, help you maintain a healthy body composition and do not leave you feeling full and bloated. But now you have been invited out for dinner. What if the restaurant doesn't have anything healthy or good for you? Will you be pressured into having a dessert and drinking alcohol? What do you do?"

My Exercise Tip; "We all know the importance of exercise when it comes to our health and warding off chronic illnesses as we age. But is just turning up to exercise enough, or do you need to put in a certain amount of time and effort? Are you getting the most out of your workouts?"

My Lifestyle Suggestion; "The fitness and health industry is full of short-term programmes. 12 weeks to the perfect body. 6 weeks to lose 5 stone. But very few on how to stay healthy for the long term. How do you stay focused and keep doing the right stuff, for just not the next few months but for the years to come?"

My Mindset Building Strategy;

"There is a concept in coaching called the 'Gap vs the Gain. We tend to focus on the gap that still remains in achieving the goal we want and not on what we have already achieved in its pursuit. If you always keep looking ahead, you can miss what you have done well and struggle to see you are succeeding."
