myHealth Blog: Break The Chain Of Bad Habits

Hi and welcome to this week's 50 & Beyond Health & Wellbeing blog. Each week I will provide you with knowledge, tips, advice and recommendations to inspire you to sustain good metabolic health specific to being over 50. Chris Deavin, myHealthCoach

My Nutrition Advice; "How much do you know about hydration? Is it more important than eating food? When the body is inadequately hydrated, it will perform at a sub-optimal level. The transportation of minerals and vitamins is hindered. Blood flow is restricted. Muscle contraction is harder. Plus, many other bodily functions. So yes, hydration is really important. And the best way to stay hydrated is through drinking pure water."

My Exercise Tip; "Let's say you are consistent with your exercise. You are even growing to love the feeling of working out. Then you get sick. What should you do? Should you take a break from exercising or just work through it until you feel better? I have often had a client come to train with a cold and feel better afterwards, whereas others it has made them feel worse. It is a case of trial and error. If you have a break from exercise to get over not feeling well, just ensure you get back to it as soon as you feel better."

My Lifestyle Suggestion; "We all know that sleep is vital to good health and even more important as we age. But what should you do if you struggle to get a good night's sleep? Here are ten actions I have found work when a client tells me they are finding it difficult to sleep."

My Mindset Building Strategy;

"Have you noticed it is easier to create a bad health habit than to start a good one? I would put that down to the society we live in. It is more set up to follow bad habits. It makes it easier for us to make bad food choices. To take the easier option when it comes to physical exertion. So to start any good health habits, you first need to break the bad habits. This is easier to do, through creating an environment that makes it harder to do bad habits than good habits."
