Hi and welcome to this week's 50 & Beyond Health & Wellbeing blog. Each week I will provide you with knowledge, tips, advice and recommendations to inspire you to sustain good metabolic health specific to being over 50. Chris Deavin, myHealthCoach
My Nutrition Advice; "I get a lot of people asking me what it is I eat. As a nutritionist and health coach for over 20 years, I have experienced all types of diets, nutrition plans and eating fads. But what has survived the test of time are the following guidelines; 1. Don't eat ultra-processed food. 2. Always have protein with your meal. 3. Eat a wide variety of veg & fruit. 4. Eat slowly."
My Exercise Tip; "Most people know the many benefits that can come from exercising, but one benefit that is not promoted enough is the boost exercise does to your immune system. The fitter and stronger you are, the better your immune system is and the less frequently you will suffer from colds and illnesses."
My Lifestyle Suggestion; "Most people rely on motivation or willpower to achieve what they want. But the problem with motivation and willpower, they are both limited. Great to get you started but terrible to keep you going. What is more powerful is your environment. With the right environment, you won't need to rely on the fickleness of willpower and motivation."
My Habit-Building Advice For The Week;
"I am here to tell you that change is hard. Change won't always work out the way you want. But if you want to achieve your health goal, you will need to change.
At first, you will fail. We all do. It's part of the change process. So learn from it, don't run from it. Learning to fail is the first step to learning how to succeed."
